THE CHALAZION
Chalazion is the inflammation of the glands in the eyelid. It is seen as a painless, hard and rounded nodule.
TREATMENT
At first, medication treatment is applied. In more advanced stages, cortisone needle treatment may be provided in the mass. The probability of recovery is around 60-70%. In cases where these treatments are not sufficient; surgical intervention can be necessary.
Chalazion surgery is performed by local anesthesia and is not an operation requiring hospitalization. It affects your daily life for a few days. It is considered a minor intervention but; eyelid diseases appear very simple but can cause serious problems if not treated.
STYE (HORDEOLUM)
Stye is the acute inflammation of the sebaceous gland in the eyelid, the developing infection near the bottom of the eyelash. There is painful swelling and redness on the edge of the eyelid. It can be prevent to opening eyelid. Pain can be felt even by touching the position of the stye. It is usually mixed with chalazion.
TREATMENT
Hot compresses and medications are applied. You can treat it by applying hot compresses three or four times for 10 minutes in a day. For doing this, soak a small towel as much as you can with hot water and hold on to your eyelids for 10-15 minutes. Once again soak the towel, continue the process. This process improves blood circulation in the eyelids and accelerates healing and cleans the mouth of the sebaceous glands. Never squeeze the stye. If the stye forces you and the infection appears, your doctor may give you an antibiotic cream to apply on your eyelid.
